Welcome to our “Music at Home” series!  On the 15th day of each month, from now until June 2013, we will introduce you to a favorite children’s artist, compilation or album that we think would be a great addition to your family musical collection.  The tunes are catchy, the rhythms snappy and the lullabies are dreamy.  For access to all of the posts in this series, click here!

This month, we would like to highlight a pair of artists who have become a part of the music therapy community over the last few years.  Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer have been attending, presenting and jamming at Music Therapy Conferences for the past three years and we are thankful to have them!  Best known for their ukelele skills and humor on stage, these ladies have recorded several CD’s for people of all ages!

I am constantly using their children’s music in my therapy sessions and DevelopingDad is often using their songs in his elementary classrooms. Scat Like That is a fun album for kids and allows them to lose their singing inhibitions!  It offers kids the music and with it they can make goofy sounds in a musical way.  No language skills necessary, only the ability to vocalize.

In addition to Scat Like That, the ladies also have a new lullabye book/CD that they have written called Sing to Your Baby.  It provides parents the means to do just that!  The CD has 11 different songs, each recorded in two different keys (some appropriate for mom and some for dad).  The book/CD is designed to give parents the opportunity to bond even further with their baby through soothing songs and lullabies.

I can’t say enough about how awesome these ladies are and I think you’ll agree!

Check out their website, facebook, twitter and Song Shop for more great goodies from the uke ladies!
