Welcome to our “Music at Home” series!  On the 15th day of each month, from now until June 2013, we will introduce you to a favorite children’s artist, compilation or album that we think would be a great addition to your family musical collection.  The tunes are catchy, the rhythms snappy and the lullabies are dreamy.  For access to all of the posts in this series, click here!

Originally cast as a jazz trio, Medeski, Martin and Wood are known for their instrumental music (not necessarily their lyrics).  I was extremely surprised, but pleasantly excited, when I heard that a children’s album had come out.  A spin off of the popular Johnny Cash tune “I’ve been everywhere”, the trio has put together “Let’s Go Everywhere”, a great mix of fun and upbeat children’s songs.

Keeping true to their original style, the entire album has a jazzy and relaxing feel making this a great transition piece for in between the super energetic times and peaceful moments throughout your day.

MMW has long been a part of our music collection, having been added during our “festival days”.  It has been a welcome addition to our daughters’ music library as just another way of sharing some of our favorite music in child-friendly form!
