When we first entered isolation, one of the first seemingly normal activities that came to light throughout social media was music and art. Across the globe art museums opened up virtual tours, ballet troupes offered virtual lessons and musicians began singing and sharing. Now, three months later, more musicians are offering virtual content and more dancing continues. While many states open up, we are still able to maintain safe social distancing by offering virtual content online. And the content must be the arts, it’s how we learn, listen and feel. Research has shown that participating in creative arts helps to alleviate distress, encourage relaxation and increase socialization (even online!).
The only way we can guarantee that our patients and loved ones are safe is to remain online.
Most often, the act of virtual content is passive in nature. We are finding concerts played online, or music classes being streamed live. These are amazing outlets for expression for the artists and we wonder what ELSE we can do for the viewer?
The viewer must become a participant!
Enter the INTERACTIVE creative arts virtual summer camp. Our vulnerable populations are needing activities and socialization, and we have heard from so many families that a creative outlet is necessary.
Developing Melodies Music Therapy Center and Creative Healing Art Therapy, LLC have partnered to offer exactly this. Each viewer becomes the participant through creating… TOGETHER! Socialization is the Key in this experience as each participant holds a very important place in the group.
During this Creative Arts Virtual Summer Camp, participants will focus on different aspects of what it means to be a Superhero and throughout interactive music experiences and art experiences, participants will be able to share with each other. Watch this video for a teaser of the qualities we will support each day.
We are very excited to be able to bring a safe and meaningful experience to our participants. Materials will be provided for each of our participants (both art AND instruments) which they will be able to keep following camp.
